Thank You Fr Nelson D’silva, SJ

Fr Nelson D Silva, SJ who has been with us in Jamshedpur Province (XLRI) is transferred to his mother province Delhi. He had planned to leave Jamshedpur on 14 April originally, first to go for a home- visit in Mumbai and then take up his new mission in Jaipur from 1 May. But as Covid cases kept rising, he felt not to travel back to Jamshedpur, sacrificed his farewells, and decided to remain in Delhi, hoping to return to XLRI, if the situation improved by then. By now, Fr Nelson has already reached Jaipur. He is scheduled to take up his new assignment as Treasurer of the Jaipur mission, and he will be installed as acting Superior of the Jaipur Jesuit community from 15 May 2021.

Fr Nelson joined XLRI in June 2011 as a Doctoral student and obtained his degree. After completing his tertianship, he joined XLRI as a faculty, and as Associate Dean for Student Affairs. He was also the Minister and Treasurer of Tome Jesuit Residence.

There is much more to his personality, much loved by those who experienced his committed care. He took excellent care of Fr Ozzie enabling his speedy recovery, and then Maxi Lakra. He had his generous ways to bestow gracefully care on others whenever his help was sought for spiritual, pastoral or educational ministry in the Province. He was much sought after for his services in spiritual ministry at XLRI, Sacred Heart and all the parishes in and around Jamshedpur. He was always known for his smile and laughter, cooking special dishes and making people happy.
Jamshedpur Province is ever grateful for his committed services. XLRI and Jamshedpur Province will miss him dearly. We wish him well in all he does. May God be with him in his new assignment in Jaipur.
